The Pigeon Cannon
It's nice to have a few birds in the garden, so I've set up a couple of feeders to encourage them. This is OK, but there's a big fat wood pigeon that is an absolute eating machine and can guzzle its way through a large feeder in a few days and he doesn't like to share. I could bang on the window, which means getting up regularly and is also pretty ineffectual, or I could get the air rifle out and use deadly force, which seems to be a bit unsporting about things. Having more time on my hands than is healthy these days I decided to build a remotely fired water-cannon with adjustable swivel and tilt turrets. The mark 2 cannon uses a 2 channel remote switch from China (so I could use one channel for something sensible) and a Blagdon 700 pond pump to give it some oomff. The rest is Garage junk. Right, now for that bastard cat!
